Satellite TV-What is it? Satellite TV has been around for long time and is still strong today. The most common question asked to us, is “What TV can I get?” “How many channels can I receive?”. FUN CARD|BLUE KISS|FREE XTV| CARD|PROGRAMMER|IRDETO|SECA|HACKING| EMETABOX|
Well the answer quite simply is anything and everything. The most common platform of satellite is FTA-Free to Air, this is usually found by scanning various satellites for different programs. These programs can be on or off at any time on any given satellite. This is what makes it fun. Discovering a new program on a new satellite to watch absolutely free. There are 2 commonly used bands (frequency ranges). C-band and KU band. To receive C-band, more than likely you will need a large size dish around 2m in diameter or more. The second frequency, KU band requires a smaller dish similar to what the pay TV operators use. Satellite manufacturers are progressing to KU band and later KA band similar to Europe, so as time goes by, equipment gets smaller and smarter. As always though the bigger the dish will always bring you a better service and more channels.

New to Australia, the Federal government is planning to have full Digital broadcast services in most major cities by the end of next year with full digital broadcasts being completely implemented by 2008.

People ask, “What’s different from Digital TV to the old analogue?” Answer, Quality and performance. With digital services the clarity of picture is astounding. No fuzzy, hazy picture. If you’ve just spent a lot of money on a TV, then spend the money on Digital TV. Added features are EPG-Electronic program guide. Meaning no need to buy TV week anymore, simply press a button and see what’s up next. Do you need a new antenna? We say, maybe, maybe not. We recommend you buy a set top box first, see if you scan in all the channels and if your not able to get them all, then you more than likely will need a new antenna. We have found in most cases, 65%, no new antenna was needed.

A digital tv is not required, just a set top box- see our products for more information. These set top boxes can come in Standard Definition(SD) or High Definition(HD) they are smaller than the size of a vcr . Most of your local broadcasters are transmitting Digital services right now.

Last years Gold Coast Digital Broadcasting Association Retailer evening, seen aDigitaLife provide a MATV Digital TV Antenna System for manufacturers displaying set top boxes. This required 16 TV connection points. The Mecure Hotel at Broadbeach did not have Digital TV facilities, hence it required us to install a temporary Antenna system just for the night. More details
